www.ffq.qaMr. Zeid Abouchacra is the owner and CEO of Friendly Food Qatar (FFQ). He first started the company on a small scale in 1978, but his strong leadership, sheer determination and unrelenting hard work slowly propelled FFQ to being one of the largest players in the sector of FMCG and disposable products in Qatar.
In 2003, Mr. Abouchacra founded the Canadian Business Association in Qatar (CBAQ). Apart from being one of the business platforms for the Canadian – Qatari trade, it is today one of the powerful windows of communications among the Canadians in Qatar, especially in case of emergencies.
In 2007, Mr. Abouchacra marked yet another milestone in his entrepreneurial life by opening a tissue converting factory in Oman. Carma Trading & Converting Industries (CTCI) started operations to cater to the demand of regular and personalised tissue products in the GCC. He then went on to create and obtain trademark rights to many private brands that have now become a household name for several products in Qatar.
After completing his Masters in London, Mr. Omar Abouchacra joined his father (Mr. Zeid Abouchacra - CEO) in the family business and took charge as the Deputy CEO of Friendly Food Qatar (FFQ) in the year 2009. He brought with him fresh and innovative ideas that broadened the vision and trade of the company, and subsequently spiraled its growth along the horizons of modern trade.
He played a key role in introducing big and famous brands like Rio Mare, Whittaker’s, Darbo, Ben & Jerry’s, Duncan Hines, Seeberger, Torres, Simply 7, Koita, Delisun, Hug etc.… in Qatar. He then partnered with local companies for the distribution of their brands like Baladna, Batatos, Doha Dates etc… He also forged a strategic partnership with Nestle Professional, giving them a bigger and wider market reach in the country.
In October 2021, FFQ finished construction of its own warehouse, office and accommodation buildings. Sprawled over 20,000 sqms of land, and housed with the latest storage technology and facilities, Mr Abouchacra tried and achieved success in Third Party and Fourth Party Logistics, which again added another proud feather to FFQ’s hat.
Along the years, amidst this rapidly changing economy, Mr. Abouchacra has explored other ventures inside and outside Qatar, and looks forward to new and bigger challenges and opportunities in the business world.\n
